The Un-Optimized List

In a world of biohacking, deep work, and constant optimization, here are the things I do that are intentionally inefficient. Because joy cannot always be measured in a spreadsheet.

Analog Joys

Fountain Pen & Paper

Writing by hand with a Lamy pen. It takes longer than typing, but thoughts flow differently.

Film Photography

Waiting for the film to be developed. No previews, no instant gratification – just the process.

Slow Rituals

Coffee as a Craft

A manual pour-over that takes 10 minutes to prepare. It's inefficient caffeine intake, but a fantastic meditation.

Gadget-Free Walks

No podcasts, no step counter, no phone. Just my own thoughts and the sound of my shoes against the pavement.

Why This Matters

Optimization is a tool, not a goal in itself. By consciously choosing inefficient processes, I remind myself that I control the technology – and not the other way around.
